Musician Bio
Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Joseph Ohkubo began his first season as an acting member of the Indianapolis Symphony’s violin section in 2017. Prior to moving to Indianapolis, he served as Associate Concertmaster of the Terre Haute Symphony and performed regularly with the Louisville Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony and others.
Joseph is a graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University where he studied with Mauricio Fuks and Mimi Zweig. Outside of IU, his main musical influence was former Louisville Orchestra concertmaster Peter McHugh. Joseph has appeared at the Verbier Festival, Music Masters Course Japan, Colorado College Music Festival, and Kent/Blossom Music Festival. In his free time, Joseph enjoys running, hiking, cooking, baking and eating.
