Musician Bio
Chak Chi Wong, born in Hong Kong, joins the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for the 2023-2024 season. Prior to joining the ISO, he was pursuing his Master of Music in Violin Performance degree under the tutelage of Mark Kaplan at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he also earned his Bachelor of Music degree. He was also a member of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and Owensboro Symphony Orchestra.
An avid chamber musician, Chak Chi was a fellow at the ENCORE Chamber Music Institute String Quartet Intensive and the Madeline Island Chamber Music Fellowship String Quartet Program. He was mentored by members of the Pacifica Quartet, American String Quartet, Cavani String Quartet, Jupiter Quartet, Arianna String Quartet and Harlem Quartet. He has also performed in a chamber setting with distinguished artists such as Paul Kantor, Jinjoo Cho, Axel Strauss, Lynne Ramsey, Scott Lee, Dmitry Kouzov, Brannon Cho and Andre Diaz, among others. In the past, he has played in masterclasses for Peter Salaff, Sibbi Bernardsson, Lewis Kaplan, and has taken private lessons with Mikhail Kopelman, Mark Steinberg, Wei He and more. Other major musical influences include Stanley Ritchie, Alexander Kerr and Jorja Fleezanis.
