Katherine Lee Morris**

First Violin

Musician Bio

K. Lee Morris joins the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for the 2024–2025 season. Originally from Lynnwood, WA, she began her musical studies on the piano at age 7 and the violin at age 10. Prior to joining the ISO, she was pursuing a Performance Diploma at Indiana University studying with Alexander Kerr. During her time at IU, she played section violin at Ballet Indiana and subbed with the Terre Haute, Richmond, and Owensboro Symphonies.

As an avid chamber musician, she has participated in festivals including the Chautauqua Institution Instrumental Program, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Meadowmount School of Music, Music Fest Perugia, and Festival del Lago, where she also coached chamber music this past summer. Her experience as a soloist includes performances with the Federal Way Symphony and the Academy Chamber Orchestra.

K. Lee received her bachelor’s degree with highest distinction from the Eastman School of Music, studying with Mikhail Kopelman, and her master’s degree from Indiana University while studying with Grigory Kalinovsky. She double majored for both of her degrees in violin performance and music theory and taught as an associate instructor of music theory during her time at IU.
